Literacy. Learning for Life.

One of 40 Frontier College Literacy Organizations across the nation.

Frontier College at Trent University is a University student-based organization. While acting as positive role models and creating awareness of the issues surrounding literacy, our dedicated volunteers  reach many individuals in the community. Our volunteers work with children, youth and senior citizens throughout Peterborough by helping to develop early literacy skills, demonstrating that reading can be an enjoyable and worthwhile activity, sharing the joys of reading, and helping to improve reading and writing skills. Come and join our team!

Frontier College at Trent University relies on volunteers for organizing and running the various programs throughout the community.  University students make up the majority of our volunteers, but community members are welcome to volunteer as well. Our volunteers are trained for the specific programs they are involved in to ensure the community programs are beneficial to the community members and the volunteers.  In addition, our volunteers are invited to participate in community events and are exposed to practical, educational and experiential rich learning.  Check out our programs to see how you would like to get involved.
